Rituals and ceremonies of life
The prayers at our temple are based on goma prayer.
Goma is considered the highest form of ritual in Esoteric Shingon Buddhism, and whenever Kobo Daishi prayed to save the nation from crisis at the request of the Imperial Court, he would always perform a Goma prayer. The Goma at this temple is a Goma that has been refined through the 8,000 Goma training, which is considered the most profound training in Esoteric Shingon Buddhism, and is a Goma prayer with an intense flame that always reaches the ceiling.
In particular, the goma ritual held in the main hall is held on a goma altar where many prayers have been offered, and everyone has received blessings from the many prayers they make every day.
In addition, the goma altar made for the 8,000 goma ritual is sturdy and large, allowing everyone to offer the goma sticks with their own hands during the goma prayer.
People write their wishes on each stick of goma wood, then throw it into the purifying fire of Fudo Myo-o, praying for their wishes to be fulfilled.
There are various forms of Goma prayer.

The center of prayer at our temple is prayer for making wishes.
This is a prayer offered by those who want their wish to be granted, and the prayer tablet is kept at the temple and prayers are made continuously for one or three months.

The request is voluntary, and of course we accept requests for safety in the home and good health, but we will also listen to requests for things such as cutting ties, warding off bad luck, praying for relationships, or passing exams.

Are there opportunities for prayer in your life?
The monthly visit to Kanzaki-dera Temple is a place of faith practice where we pray in gratitude for the "thanks" we receive in our daily lives. Prayers of gratitude and appreciation go around and help us to establish our own footing.
During the monthly visit, visitors will perform prayers according to the temple's own book of sutras, "Fumon." The prayers begin with three bows, confession, and then religious practice.
A goma ritual is performed in conjunction with the sutra, and the mantra of Fudo Myo-o is chanted as the goma flames rise.
The goma ceremonies at Kanzakiji Temple are a place where you can truly pray, by facing the flames of Fudo Myo-o and chanting mantras with all your heart, leaving behind the worries of your surroundings, your everyday life, your anxieties and anger.
Anyone is welcome to visit, and we will provide guidance in reciting sutras, so please come and visit.
Goma prayer ceremony at the event
Kanzaki Temple holds many events throughout the year.
Among the events, the prayer events include the goma ritual. The goma ritual differs depending on the event, but visitors are able to practice prayer just like they do on the monthly festival days.
At each event, prayer tablets, talismans, and amulets that are necessary for daily life are given to the home and to each individual.
In particular, the Saito Goma ritual performed during the fire-walking training is a huge goma prayer held on the banks of the Tone River, and the goma performed in the Yasenmai Goma training is the most rigorous training in Esoteric Shingon Buddhism, so we highly recommend that you visit.
Private Goma Prayer
The main hall of Kanzaki Temple will be used as a private dojo for the prayers of those who make requests .
Since the space will be reserved exclusively, special arrangements can be made for prayer and seating.
It is also possible to sit in front of the goma flames and practice as a group.
