August 15th: Lantern Festival to send off the spirits of the dead

At the main hall, 6pm

Many candles are lit to decorate the altar and brightly illuminate the path to enlightenment for the ancestors of each household and the spirits of all those connected with the deceased.

Many candles are lit as farewell fires to welcome back the spirits of ancestors and loved ones who have returned home during Obon.

As many lanterns light the final night of Obon, chants are chanted and final memorial services are held.

At this time, the small light of your hearts will brightly light the path of the spirits. Nothing can guide the spirits more powerfully than the light of your hearts. Let's make a small light of gratitude for life.

During Obon, memorial services include erecting a gravestone and offering a candle.

On the evening of August 15th we will hold a Manto-e ceremony to send off our ancestors, so we would like you to offer many lanterns.
