Hatsu Daishi Great Goma Prayer
January 21st from 11am
As written in the temple's history, Mt. Dainichi, where Kanzaki-dera is located, was a Tendai sect temple until the Edo period, but was abandoned due to the anti-Buddhist movement in the Meiji period, and was closed with no religious practitioners until after the war. It was possible to revive it as a Shingon sect Daigo-ha temple thanks to the presence of an ascetic who carried a statue of Kobo Daishi there. To cherish this connection and to ensure that we do not forget our gratitude, our temple holds an important event on the 21st of the New Year, where we offer our sincere faith to the Daishi as the first Daishi, and on the 21st of each month, we perform a goma service for the lunar festival.
In today's busy world, it may be difficult to prioritize faith over work and personal matters, but being grateful to our ancestors and virtuous people is important in order to lead good relationships. Please visit the temple and chant the name of the Great Master.
